The XMAX V3 Nano is one of the smallest, cheapest, and actually decent portable dry herb vaporizers that I’ve tested in the $50 price range. The V3 Nano features a single temperature spectrum, a 1000mAh nonreplaceable battery, and charges via USB-C.
The hybrid heater produces flavor on par with other portable vaporizers in the $100 price range and while it only averages around 25 minutes of use (2-4 bowls), it charges in roughly 60 minutes. It’s currently rated as the best portable vaporizer under $50.
I’ve never listed or reviewed a battery-powered portable vaporizer this cheap before but this one is great for the price. I recommend it for anyone just entering the dry herb vaporizer market or for someone who might be taking a trip and doesn’t want to risk their more expensive portable vaporizer. It’s also the perfect vaporizer to figure out whether or not you even like this “dry herb vaporizer” thing.
The XMAX V3 Nano is definitely not for experienced heavy daily users as the chamber is very small and the battery life is meant for quick on-the-go sessions.
The XMAX V3 Nano retails for $50 and you can click here to pick it up from my recommended authorized retailer. Read on below for my full XMAX V3 Nano vaporizer review.

The only accessory that I recommend with this purchase is a grinder. You can check out my list of the best weed grinders (link) for some options. A grinder will help break down the herbs and provide more even surface area for heating.
Size and Portability
The XMAX V3 Nano is the smallest, most pocket-friendly device that I’ve reviewed but it does use a glass stem that sticks out of the top of the unit. You load the actual chamber with this device so if you want to pre-load a bowl before heading out, you’ll need to place the glass stem on the top to stop any herbs from falling out.
Build Quality and Design
The V3 Nano uses an aluminum alloy body with a glass stem/mouthpiece. It feels nice in the hands, the single button works without any weird issues, and overall the build quality is really good for a $50 portable vaporizer.
Battery Info and Charging Options
The XMAX V3 Nano features a non-replaceable internal rechargeable 1000mAh battery.
I’ve been averaging around 25 minutes of continuous use which for me is around 2-4 bowls depending on how much you load in the chamber, the consistency of the flower and cold starts vs hot starts.
I’ve averaged around 60 minutes to fully charge the XMAX v3 Nano via USB-C. XMAX warns to only use a 5V/1A charging brick as a higher output will damage the device.
Heating and Temp Options
You get one temp option with the XMAX V3 Nano and it runs on a spectrum from 392F – 428F (200C – 220C).
Pre-heat times have averaged around 30 seconds depending on battery life, exterior temps and whether its a cold start vs hot start.
Turn on the XMAX v3 Nano by pressing the power button three times in a row and the device automatically begins heating to the temp spectrum.
Session timer is set to three minutes and I can usually finish a session within that three minute window.
Vapor Quality and Draw Resistance
I’m actually really impressed by the vapor quality of the XMAX V3 Nano and the overall lack of draw resistance. It’s pretty free-flowing compared to other portable vaporizers in this size and again, it’s a $50 vaporizer so I can’t be too picky.
The short vapor path creates some warmer temps especially with prolonged sessions but the glass stem and filter do a decent job of not only stopping herbs from coming up through the stem but also reducing the overall temperature of the vapor.
Chamber Info
One of the downsides to this device is the size of the chamber. It’s pretty small and there’s no funnel type system so it’s a little harder to load than most. Again, the entire device is tiny and a small chamber is to be expected but if you have any dexterity issues, this might not be the best vaporizer for you.
It does come with a little poker/cleaning tool which helps clean up the chamber of any debris. I’ve found that an average to fine grind works the best and a slight pack down of the chamber will help get enough herbs in for a solid session.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Overall the cleaning and maintenance is pretty straight forward and I dont expect this to be a device for a heavy daily user so with that said, the most important thing to keep clean is the screen/filter at the bottom of the glass stem.
It’s also important to remove any herbs from the chamber immediately after a session to help keep the residue from forming on the inside of the chamber. It comes with a cleaning brush in the box and I recommend to use this after each session.
To clean the XMAX V3 Nano, all you need is a Q-tip (included in the box) and some isopropyl alcohol which is also included in the box. Take the cotton pad and dampen the q-tip, turn the device upside down and swab out the chamber. You can place the entirety of the glass stem in ISO and let it soak. Be sure to rinse the glass stem and filter prior to putting the device back together and make sure to let the device completely dry before using it again.
Warranty Info
The XMAX v3 Nano comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty which is just insane considering the device is only $50. The warranty only covers the electric heater and any defects in manufacturing. The battery, glass mouthpiece and/or any external accessories are not covered.
XMAX V3 Nano Review Summary
Overall I’m super impressed by the XMAX V3 Nano and it’s the best cheap portable vaporizer I’ve tested. I’ve never had anything below $75 on my best portable vaporizer list until this vaporizer because it’s actually good.
Again, there are a couple of downsides because of the overall size of the device but for $50 and a one-year warranty, there’s really nothing else to compare it to at this price range.
Lastly, this is not the portable vaporizer for heavy daily users as the battery life will not keep up and the smaller chamber will leave you wanting more. This is the perfect vaporizer for someone just entering the vape market or for someone needing a small pocket-friendly option for use in a pinch.
