The Tafee Bowle is a handheld portable vaporizer made by Tafee Technologies in Toronto, CA. It uses 100% pure on-demand convection heating to achieve some of the tastiest vapor you can currently get from a dry herb vaporizer, portable or desktop.
Update 7/30/24 – Tafee Technologies is back and released a new Tafee Bowle Series 2 vaporizer. I’m currently testing the new model and taking photos. I will update this page when the review is complete, but for now, you can click here to check out the new model directly from Tafee. Hit me up with any questions on Instagram – @vaporizerwizard.
I was probably just like you a few months ago, looking at this thing and going, “There’s no way I’m buying a vaporizer cup…” but then I did. I absolutely love it, and I’m super stoked to be writing this Tafee Bowle vaporizer review.
It’s the only portable (handheld) dry herb vaporizer that I consistently reach for over the Volcano (Volcano Vaporizer Review) while I’m at home. It heats up quickly, it’s easy to load, and it produces some of the best-tasting vapor of all the different vaporizers that I’ve reviewed.
Tafee Technologies considered every detail before releasing this vaporizer. All you have to do is take one look at the manual they put out for it, and you know they mean business. I’m talking better quality, research, and execution than Storz and Bickel vaporizers.
My favorite features of the Tafee Bowle vaporizer are the quick heat up times, basically zero draw resistance and the ability to have complete control over my sessions.
If you are looking for the best-tasting, fastest-heating handheld vaporizer, this is the one you want. It is pricey, and they are working on ramping up distribution, but I promise you it’s worth every penny. The Tafee Bowle is one of if not the best vaporizers to come out in many, many years.
The Tafee Bowle is currently in stock, and I recommend picking it up directly from Tafee here (more info as well). Read on below for my full Tafee Bowle Vaporizer Review.
Table of Contents
Included in the Box
What’s included with the Tafee Bowle:
- Puck Base Unit
- Stem (Vapor Path)
- Drinkware (Cup)
- Two Mouthpieces (Tall and Flat)
- Potter+ Shredder + Single Pot Funnel
- Ceramic Oven Pot
- Maintenance Kit
- USB Charger + Cable
The Puck base dimensions are 71mm x 30mm, and it weighs roughly 190g. The drinkware is available in 400ml / 250ml. The 250ml is the one used in this Tafee Bowle review. I will be getting a large one soon and will add comparison pics when it gets here. You also get two different mouthpieces, one tall and one flat (pictured below).
The accessories included with the Tafee Bowle are top-notch and you can tell they took the time to think about and include everything you need to use the Tafee vaporizer.
One thing I would consider is upgrading from the Potter+ to just the “Potter”. I know it doesn’t really make sense, you would think that the Potter+ was the better grinder but it’s the plastic one that comes with it. Sort of how Storz and Bickel used to include an herb loader for the Mighty and Crafty vaporizers. The “POTTER” is the metal higher quality version and it’s definitely better. Again, it’s a bit pricey but 100% worth the upgrade if it’s in the budget.
The Tafee dry herb vaporizer also comes with a super strong 90-degree charging cable and a stirring tool that fits into the puck’s bottom. The stirring tool can also be used to tamp down the herbs in the pots.
How does the Tafee Bowle Work?
The Tafee Bowle is a unique vaporizer, but it’s actually pretty simple to use.
- The Tafee bowle works by first grinding up some flower (dry herbs) and placing them into the pot.
- Then place the pot into the Stem and load it into the Puck Base Unit.
- Now you’re ready to turn on the Tafee Bowle. Turn the Tafee vaporizer on by clicking the large power button three times.
- Press the smaller temperature button to cycle between temps. My personal favorite is temp three.
- From here, you can either hold down the large fire button for the duration of your draw, or you can click once to show temp, and then click one time again to start the session without having to hold it down. Either mode works but I prefer to hold it down for some reason.
- Once you have taken a couple of draws, I recommend a good stir, place the pot and stem back into the Puck Base and continue your sessions.
- When finished, clear out the chamber immediately to help cut down on the cleaning.
- Add another Pot to the Stem and you’re good to go again!
Tafee Heating and Temp Options
The Tafee Bowle vaporizer uses 100% convection heating via four different temperature ranges. The four temperatures are indicated by four blue lights located on the top of the Puck Base.
Temperature 1 = low, 2 = medium, 3 = high, and 4 lights = very high. Each temperature range is dynamically controlled and will fluctuate based on many different variables. The Max temp of the Tafee Bowle is 464F.
Change temps by pressing the “C” Temperature Button. It’s the smaller one underneath the larger “B” Fire button.
Tafee Bowle Battery Life and Charging
The Tafee Bowle Vaporizer uses a 7.4w, 750mAh Li-ion polymer cells and charges via quick charge USB 3.0. I’ve been averaging 5-6 bowls before it dies (usually 3-5 draws per bowl depending on draw length).
The Tafee vaporizer takes roughly 90 minutes to charge from dead. It does offer pass-through charging but it is recommended to only use the Bowle with at least a 50% charge. The power going to the battery is not strong enough to power the Bowle and charge it at the same time.
It also comes with a heavy-duty 90-degree bent charging cable. Tafee recommends only using the charging cable that it came with to charge the Bowle vaporizer.
There are a couple of downsides associated with the location of the charging port and the indicating lights.
- The charging port is located on the top of the Puck Base, so you can’t use the cup (drinkware) and charge the device simultaneously.
- You also can’t see any of the lights if you have a dark liquid in the cup.
- I personally never use the cup, so it’s not a big deal, and you don’t really need to see the lights after you get the hang of the sessions.
Lastly, while the Tafee Bowle is a great vaporizer for BBQ’s, picnics, backyard get togethers, etc… it’s not really a pocketable portable vaporizer. I use it most at home and I tend to leave my Tafee Bowle on the charger when not in use so it’s never dead. It would be nice if it had a charging cradle with a battery level indicator, similar to the Firefly 2+ that you could just dock it on or as Jerry from POTV suggests “It almost screams for a wireless solution.”
I do wish the battery life was better but again, I just leave it on the charger and I don’t have to worry about it.
How to Clean and Care For Your Tafee Bowle Vaporizer
First things first, remove and empty pots immediately after a session to reduce the cleaning frequency. Leaving herbs in the chamber causes debris to stick to the screens which will increase draw resistance, decrease flavor and increase the amount of time you spend cleaning your Tafee vaporizer.
You’ll know it’s time to clean everything when the pot screens are dirty and the bottom of the stem shows materials collecting in the bottom.
Tafee Bowl Cleaning Steps:
- Remove O-rings/seals from the pots. You can place in warm soapy water but for the most part, these don’t need to be cleaned.
- Pour some ISO into a zip lock bag and place the pots into the zip lock bag. Shake around and let sit for a few minutes.
- Rinse out the stem with hot water and then fill with ISO. Plug both sides with your fingers and swish around the ISO. You can use a q-tip to clean out the bottom portion of the stem. Repeat until clean.
- Wash the mouthpiece off with warm soapy water then rinse thoroughly.
- Let everything dry thoroughly before using again. I use a hairdryer or a fan to dry everything off if I am in a hurry.
Overall it took me about 5-10 minutes to clean everything after about 30 bowls. It honestly didn’t need it but when you’re chasing flavor and expecting the best taste, even a little bit of debris in the stem or the pot screen can cause variance in the actual taste of your herb. Trust me when I say that you will be so excited to try new strains with this vaporizer. The taste is phenomenal.
Don’t soak the seals in ISO and Do NOT heat dry the drinkware. You can hand wash it with warm water or place it in the top rack of the dishwasher but you need to let it air dry or hand dry it with an extra soft drying towel. Check out the full operating manual on the Tafee website.
Tafee Bowle Review Wrap-UP
The Tafee Bowle is the second pure convection dry herb vaporizer to hit the market in the last few months. I reviewed the NEO Herbal Atomizer a couple of months back, which is also a pure convection heat source but not as consistent or easy to use as the Tafee Bowle. Both of these vaporizers are extremely unique and offer on-demand convection heating which is my personal favorite heating style.
The only other vaporizer to offer this type of taste and experience is the Firefly 2+ (Firefly 2+ Review) and it’s been out for years now so it’s nice to finally see some new all convection vaporizers hitting the market. Unfortunately, the FF2+ has started collecting some dust since I got the Bowle.
While I can see why you might be hesitant to pull the trigger on the Tafee Bowle vaporizer, don’t. This is the best portable vaporizer to hit the market since the OG Crafty and Mighty. Sure it looks odd with the cup and maybe a bit gimmicky, but the performance and taste produced by the Bowle vaporizer is insane.
You will absolutely LOVE testing new strains with this vaporizer and find yourself reaching for it often because of the on-demand heating. After having a handful of friends try this thing out everyone has loved it so far. Unless you need the absolute best battery life, you need a pocketable unit, or it’s out of your budget you should give this unit a look.
I recommended picking up the Tafee Bowle from my recommended authorized retailer here (more info as well) and be sure to hit me up with any questions down below in the comments. Thank you for taking the time to read my Tafee Bowle Vaporizer review and have a great day.
