Davinci Vaporizer has released a new carbon fiber limited edition version of the Davinci IQ2 along with some new accessories for both the IQ2 and IQC. I’m absolutely blown away by the presentation of the entire package, so I took a bunch of photos, and I’ll break down the differences between all the Davinci IQ models below.
Since these two units (OG IQ2 and IQ2 Carbon) are so similar, this Davinci IQ2 Carbon review will be more of a summary of the differences between the OG IQ2 and the new IQ2 Carbon with some info about the IQC sprinkled in.
I also encourage you to check out my Davinci IQC review for a cheaper, dumbed-down version of the IQ2. I’ll break down these two a little more below.
Right now, the Davinci IQ2 Carbon retails for $499, and you can click here to pick it up directly from Davinci. Hit me up in the comments or via the contact page with any questions.

Why is the IQ2 Carbon $499?
Ok, $499 is a lot of money for a portable vaporizer. Is the Davinci IQ2 Carbon worth it? Not by itself. The price is because Davinci is throwing in around $210 worth of useful accessories, including the new stainless steel dosage pods and the new Dosage Grinder, which allows you to grind dry herbs directly into the dosage pods for easy loading.
You also get a HydroTube to filter the vapor through water and the dosage pod holder. The mouthpiece also doubles as a 10mm WPA. I’ve listed the accessories and their prices below:
Accessories included ($208.85 in accessories)
- Dosage Grinder – $69.95
- Hydrotube – $84.95
- 6 Stainless Steel Pods – $24.95
- Dosage Pod Holder – $29
So if you add in the price of the accessories to the total package, you’re looking at a retail price on the Carbon IQ2 of roughly $290, and the retail price on the original IQ2 is $295. So you’re actually coming out on top with this deal if you’ll use all the accessories.
The Davinci IQ2 Carbon also features USB-C charging vs. Micro USB on the OG (Original) IQ2. Let’s get more into the differences between the Davinci IQ series models below.
You can find more information about the Stainless Steel Dosing Capsules, the Hydrotube, and the Davinci Dosage Grinder in my Davinci Accessories Guide.
Davinci IQ2 Carbon, OG IQ2 and IQC Breakdown
The Carbon Fiber IQ2 is an upgraded version of the IQ2. The IQ2 is an upgraded version of the IQ, and the IQ is no longer sold. The current Davinci vaporizer lineup consists of the Miqro-C, the IQC, the IQ2, and lastly, the Davinci IQ2 Carbon.
The Davinci Miqro-C also just received an upgrade and now uses USB-C charging. The Miqro-C saw some build quality changes (better hinges), a reduction from a three-button system to a one-button system, and only one row of LEDs displayed on the front. Read more about the upgrades in my Davinci Miqro-C Review.
Davinci also released the new Stainless Steel Dosing Capsules and Davinci Dosage grinder. So overall, these are exciting times for Davinci, with lots of new products keeping things fresh.
Ok, enough rambling. Let’s break down the differences between the IQ2 Carbon and the Original IQ2.
Davinci IQ2 Carbon vs. OG IQ2
The upgrades or differences with the new Davinci IQ2 Carbon include a carbon fiber exterior, which helps keep the unit cooler, especially during longer or group sessions, and a new USB-C charging system.
The original IQ2 uses micro-USB and takes roughly six hours to charge the battery within the unit. With the new charging system, the IQ2 Carbon can charge roughly 33% faster, bringing the total charge time to around four hours.
So while the IQ2 and the IQ2 Carbon are pretty similar, the UBC-C makes a huge difference in the charging time. The Davinci website states that the IQ2 Carbon can charge in 2 hours, but I haven’t had the same results. The Davinci IQC can charge in 2 hours, but it’s a 3000mAh 18650 vs a 3500mAh 18650 on the Davinci IQ2 Carbon. So who knows about that one…
I haven’t found any noticeable changes in the design or build quality other than the carbon fiber exterior and the personalized device numbers on both the keychain and the device.
The one thing I will say is that the Davinci IQ2 Carbon is absolutely beautiful. It’s honestly the best-looking vaporizer Davinci has released. The red lighting and red accents throughout the device are a perfect match for the carbon fiber. Even the IQ2 Carbon logo on the back really highlights the attention to detail and personal touch on this special edition Davinci IQ2 Carbon.
I’m super grateful to be able to get stuff like this for testing. I’m a massive gadget nerd and love tinkering with all the devices, but every once in a while, something comes across your desk, and you’re just like, wow, this is awesome, and the IQ2 Carbon is just that.
IQC vs. IQ2 Carbon
So first off, with the Davinci IQC, you lose out on the Air-Dial, the dosage metering and get a smaller battery (3000mAh vs. 3500mAh), but the Davinci IQC comes with USB-C charging and averages charge times in the two-hour range rather than four (IQ2 Carbon) or six (OG IQ2).
Davinci Vaporizer is also running a package deal right now where you get the Davinci Dosage grinder free with the purchase of an IQC or IQ2, which makes the IQC an even better deal. Again, you’re not getting ALL of the accessories with the Original IQ2 or the IQC that come with the IQ2 Carbon Package but still, quite the price difference.
The IQC and IQ2 (Carbon and OG) both feature a smartphone app, and you get a five-year warranty with the Davinci IQC vs. a 10-year warranty with the Davinci IQ2. The 10-Year warranty is a nice upgrade when factoring in the price between the Original IQ2/Carbon Model and Davinci IQC.
Who is the IQ2 Carbon For?
The IQ2 Carbon is for someone looking to be precise with dosages and likes to fine-tune sessions. If you’re a tech-savvy tinkerer… this IQ2 Carbon is most definitely for you. It’s also for someone who wants the complete package from the start.
Often times it can take a long time to gather all the proper accessories to really maximize the potential of a dry herb vaporizer. It can also be pricey when buying individual items.
I think this Davinci IQ2 Carbon LE/SE is a great all-around package for someone wanting to buy once and be done. You literally get everything you need for all your on-the-go or at-home vaping needs.
Davinci IQ2 Carbon Review Wrap-up
Overall, I’m super impressed with the Davinci IQ2 Carbon. The USB-C charging system upgrade was much needed, and it’s really the complete package. Everything you need is pre-packaged in a neat little box, ready to go.
The price is steep, but I think it’s worth it if you’ll be using all the accessories offered in the kit. If you’re not a fan of dosing capsules and already have a grinder and some glass at home, maybe the ICQ or OG IQ2 is the better option.
There’s no wrong decision. They are all great devices, but if the price doesn’t matter to you, get the new Davinci IQ2 Carbon Limited Edition Package and be done with it. You can click here to pick up the Davinci IQ2 Carbon Limited Edition Vaporizer directly from Davinci Vaporizer.
I didn’t include all the details of the Davinci IQ2 Carbon because I already have a full write-up for the original IQ2, and it’s just redundant information.
You can find Davinci IQ2-specific info, like chamber size, temp ranges, preferred use + tips, and more, in my full Davinci IQ2 vaporizer review.
If you aren’t quite sold on the IQ2 Carbon or Davinci Vaporizers in general, you can read about my top picks for best dry herb vaporizers or check out my top-rated portable vaporizer, the Venty vaporizer (Venty Vaporizer Review).
