The Air II is a portable hybrid vaporizer meaning that it utilizes both convection and conduction heating. It features an upgraded replaceable battery system, full temp spectrum with on vape display, and improved airflow over the original AIR vaporizer.
ArizerTech was very busy in 2017, releasing new upgraded versions of the original classic Solo vaporizer and the newer but still older Air vaporizer. The Air 2 improved airflow and temp control while the Solo 2 shines brightly in categories like vapor quality and average battery life (3+ hours). Arizer also released the ARGO, which is the first vaporizer released from them that is actually portable.
This Arizer Air 2 vaporizer review will break down the differences between a couple of different Arizer portable vaporizer models (Solo, Air) and help you decide which one will work best for you.
Much like the entire Arizer portable vaporizer lineup, the Air 2 vaporizer feels very solid in the hands and offers one of the best session experiences on the market. It’s small enough to pocket for use out on the go and even comes with a nice carrying case for the stems. The Arizer Air 2 is the perfect vaporizer for someone wanting full control of their sessions, great taste, and replaceable batteries with the option to take it on the go.
The Air 2 vaporizer retails for $149. Please read on below to get my full Arizer Air 2 review.

This is a ton of accessories and pretty much everything you will need to use your Air 2. I do recommend picking up the PVHEGong (High-Efficiency Glass on Glass) adapter. This will make it easy to hook up to your current glass rigs. If you don’t have any glass, I recommend picking up something like the d020-d glass bubbler.
I also recommend picking up an extra battery or two and, last but not least, an external charger. I prefer the Nitecore i2 external charger, which you can find on Amazon.
Again, all of the accessories that you need to operate the Air 2 are included, and you don’t need to pick up anything extra. But these suggestions will take your sessions to the next level.
Key Features
Air 2 Upgrades (From OG Air)
- Full Temp Spectrum
- On-Vape Temp Display + Controls
- Upgraded Battery
- Improved Air Flow
- Micro USB
Honestly, the biggest improvement, while being pretty small, is the Micro USB charging. You no longer need the proprietary charger from the Air. You can use any Micro USB charging cable to charge it!
The upgraded battery offers a 25% improvement over the original Air. Charging is not much faster, which is why I recommend picking up the Nitecore i2 so you can charge multiple batteries in about half the time.
It’s also nice to have extra control over your sessions with the added full temp spectrum. With the original Air, you only get 5 preset temps. Different strains produce different results and sometimes require different temps to get the best results, so it’s nice to be able to fine-tune the temps if needed.
Last but not least is the improved airflow. My biggest complaint other than the semi-lack of portability (glass mouthpiece) has been the draw resistance. The new Air 2 has improved it by a good amount, and I instantly noticed a difference between the two units.
Size and Design
Overall the unit is fairly portable. The glass stem is the only part that doesn’t do well out on the go. The unit is lightweight, easy to pocket, and extremely durable. It stands 4 1/2 inches tall (~7 inches tall with the mouthpiece), weighs roughly 126 grams, and the included carrying case can hold extra stems for use on the go.
Battery Info
The Air 2 vaporizer comes with a rechargeable/replaceable 3200 mah 18650. I recommend picking up an extra or two if you’ll be using it for long periods on the go. You can also pick up a battery pack for use on the go.
Battery Life – I’ve been averaging about 80 minutes of use on a single charge. The good thing about the Air vaporizers is that they use a replaceable battery system (pictured above), so you can pick up a couple of extra batteries and have them ready to go.
Charging Times – and takes roughly 2 hours to charge within the unit from dead completely. You can pick up an external battery charger, which will cut the charging time in half. You can also charge multiple batteries at once.
Heating System
The Arizer Air 2 uses a hybrid heating system but leans more towards the conduction side of things. If you were to leave the Air 2 on without drawing from it, your herbs would still be vaping.
Whereas something like the Firefly 2+ is a pure convection portable vaporizer and will only heat the herbs as you draw from the unit.
Vapor Quality and Usage Tips
Vapor Quality – The Arizer Air 2 offers exceptional vapor quality. The taste is phenomenal, and the cool temps make it super easy to draw from.
I’ve always enjoyed the vapor quality out of the Arizer models, with the only downside being the draw resistance, but now they have addressed that as well. I can instantly notice the difference in draw resistance between the original Air and the Air 2.
The other part that helps with the vapor quality of the Air 2 is the full temp spectrum. I have much more control over my sessions and can pick a precise temp for different strains. I also like to step up temps in five-degree increments, which I can’t do with the OG Air.
Usage Tips – First and foremost, make sure that you add the screen to the mouthpiece. If you don’t, expect all kinds of tiny little treats as you’re drawing from the stem.
Next, make sure that you don’t overpack the chamber, and an average grind works the best IMO. A fine grind will clog up the screen faster, produce more draw resistance, and add more cleaning.
Finishing the chamber in a single session and emptying the chamber immediately will drastically reduce your cleaning. Leaving herbs in the chamber after a session will cause the finer materials to collect on the screen, increasing draw resistance and the frequency of cleaning.
Last but not least, picking up an extra battery and an external charger will make sure that you always have a fully charged battery ready to go.
Cleaning and Maintenance
How to clean the Arizer Air 2– The cleaning and maintenance are pretty straightforward and be sure to follow my tips from the previous section to cut down on the overall cleaning needed.
Once your stem and screen have become clogged, you can toss the entire setup into a jar of ISO. Let it sit for about 30 minutes and then rinse with warm water. It makes it easier to clean the screen and the mouthpiece if you remove the screen first.
Then take a q-tip with a small amount of ISO on it, turn the vaporizer upside down, and swab out the heating element. Be sure only to use a small amount, so none of the liquid drops down into the unit. Once everything is dry, throw the screen back into the stem, and you’re ready to go. Pretty easy overall.
Cleaning Frequency – I’d say I need to clean my unit after about 15 or so sessions. You can definitely go longer, but you will notice a big increase in draw resistance. You can also clean it earlier, and sometimes I do to get a cleaner taste with more airflow.
Comparisons
The Air 2 is a great vaporizer and could very easily be the only vape that you would need to satisfy your use on the go and at home. But there are a few vaporizers that do it better in certain categories. For instance, if you didn’t care so much about a unit’s portability but wanted the absolute best battery life, I would check out the Solo 2 or the Mighty+ Vaporizer.
Or, if you wanted the most portable unit without sacrificing a replaceable battery system or full temp spectrum, I would check out the Davinci IQ 2 or the new Arizer ArGo.
I do think that the Arizer 2 is a very nice upgrade over the OG Air but there are better vaporizers out there for the price. Increased airflow, full temp spectrum, and the universal micro USB are great upgrades.
Air 2 Review Wrap-Up
The Arizer Air II is the perfect vaporizer for both novices and advanced users. It’s fairly easy to load, the maintenance isn’t all that bad if you keep up on it, and the vapor quality is top-notch.
The replaceable battery system makes it easy to keep the sessions rolling while out on the go, and the full temp spectrum gives you complete control over those sessions. Last but not least, the Air 2 comes with a two-year manufacturer warranty.
